BIG HIT at LASERZONE

Our first social  and fundraiser for the juniors was a big smash hit. The event was well supported buy our under 14 and under 16 players their brothers and mates.  Not to be out done our junior girls who were also invited gave the boys a run for their money.  The 'rookie' from the womens, Marg Hay, blasted her way through the packs of players. It was an amazing time, three hours of fantastic fun was had by all. Team work, friendship and strategy was the order of the day with players doing battle for save their base, their partner or themselves.  Everyone came out of their missions laughing, sweaty and eager to check their score.

Laserzone staff were wonderful to work with and generously gave us some great give away's.  We had a lucky ticket draw for prizes before heading back to reality.

Parents who stayed also had the opportunity to get to know each other and catch up over coffee. As if this wasn't enough we also raised some much needed funds. The money raised has already gone towards buying new warm up/game day kits for every junior team.

Thanks to all the players and their parents for supporting and participating in this initiative.

Welcome to season 2011/2012 (click here for the full story)

Welcome to Season 2011/2012

While you were all dreaming of cricket and the season ahead there has been a large group of members, representatives, parents and supporters who have been working hard behind the scene to prepare for a great season ahead.

Training is underway for the GPYCA (Gary Putland Youth Academy). They have been training in the  Tatachilla College gym and Wirrianda High School gym for the past couple of weeks. Head coach Eric Bain and Harvey Jolly provide an intensive and supportive program that is also very enjoyable. The boys have been learning to develop their batting and bowling skills for the seasons ahead.

Thanks to Thomas Scott and Tom Hynes for volunteering their assistance in helping with this group. Their efforts for young lads are commendable.

A winter skills program has also been running over the last few weeks.  This has included a small selection of players across all teams to tune in to specific skills development needs as identified by the coaches. This has been a part of the warm up for the coming season and a testing of some abilities that will benefit the teams in general.
