U16 Team Selections For Round 1 - Oct 13-20th

Congratulations to our appointed U16 captains and vice-captains for the start of the season. While leadership positions are likely to change as players move between whites, reds and seniors across the season, the appointed leaders for at least the first 3 rounds are:

Reds - Alex Cornelius (C) & Josiah Gryzb (VC)
Whites - Brendan Day (C) & William Greenshields (VC)

12 players have been selected in each side, with the top 11 batting but all players able to bat, bowl and field at different times (teams are announced in batting order)

Trevor Faquhar will be taking the U16 reds for their warm up and pre-match, I will be starting at the whites game this week. We will certainly be looking for help with managing the teams and scoring on the day. Hopefully the weather is kind, but we will be in touch tomorrow afternoon via email and text IF GAMES ARE WASHED OUT. Otherwise, assume your match is going ahead and arrive at the specified times.

Good luck to all of our U14 players this week in round 1 matches. The club is thrilled to be represented by such a talented group of young cricketers. Congratulations to all new players who will make their debut for Southern District this weekend, and we say welcome to their parents and families and hope you will be able to support our cricket club on and off the field.

We have a squad of 28 players for both U14 and U16 squads, this is vital to field 4 junior sides across the season with players missing matches from time to time due to illness, injury, family holidays etc. This also means from time to time we will need to rotate players to miss matches when our entire list is available (no registered and paid-up player should ever miss two games in a row). All 12 players selected play a role in the match (i.e. bowl/bat/WK) but only 11 players can bat per innings. Good luck to all players, coaches, managers, scorers!
