Dear Stingrays & Parents,
Welcome to season 2012/13 at the Southern District Stingrays!
As you may already know, I have been appointed as the Director of Junior Coaching at SDCC this season, and will be overseeing all junior programs. Tania Scott returns as the Junior Coordinator, and between the two of us, we will be responsible for the day to day running of junior cricket with the help of the appointed junior committees.
We will outlining our roles in more detail as the season approaches, but in a nutshell, I will be coaching the U16 program, including a match day role with the U16 Reds side. I will also have a skills coaching role with the U14 program & GPYCA (Gary Putland Youth Cricket Academy). I’m very excited to be given the chance to help develop our young cricketers.
Training for the GPYCA begins early July and is plays a vital role in identifying talented juniors in our region and delivering a strong foundation of cricket basics. From this program we select a squad for the Ray Sutton Tournament for primary school aged players. I’m pleased to announce that Eric Bain will be coaching the Ray Sutton program.
Training dates for our pre-season programs have not yet be finalised, but rest assured that there will be plenty of communication when we are ready to announce the schedule. We recognise that many players and families are involved in all manner of winter sports. Personally, I encourage all our players to be involved in sports and activities outside of cricket, and if any of our pre-season programs clash with these commitments, we just ask that you contact us and let us know.
A handful of juniors have been nominated to trial for SA High Performance Programs over the school holidays and we wish them well. A number of junior players have also been invited to attend the GPYCA as both mentors to the new squad, and to receive some individual coaching to help develop their own games.

If there are any players who do not have heavy winter sport commitments that would be interested in being involved in a supplementary skills training program prior to pre-season, I ask you to contact Tania. If we receive enough interest, we will be in touch again with details of how you can be involved.
Finally, I encourage all parents to start thinking about how you might like to be involved this season. From an on-field sense, I am looking for as much coaching support as I can muster. Any time that you could offer would be greatly appreciated and value add to our program. Whether you have experience as a past player, coach, or if you are just keen to learn and be involved, we would love to hear from you. We also need help with committees, scoring, umpiring, managing, dog walking, you name it! So please, if you can help, contact Tania.
We will be in touch soon with more info about the exciting initiatives we are planning.
Kind Regards,
Abe Moore
